Management

Eddie J. Ward
Founder And CEO

Mr. Ward founded E.J. Ward, Inc. in 1974 as the first automated fuel management company and since then has been instrumental in leading Ward to become the leading fleet fuel management company in North America. After graduating from Texas A & M University, Mr. Ward joined the United States Air Force as a pilot. Before founding Ward, he worked for Johnson Controls in San Antonio and then as branch manager in El Paso, Texas. Mr. Ward also founded an air conditioning and heating maintenance company for commercial buildings and a controls division for new construction in the commercial sector.

Tom Ward
CFO And Director

After graduation from the University of Texas, Mr. Ward served as an officer in the United States Army. Before joining Ward in 1980, he was President of the American Bank of Commerce in Victoria, Texas. Mr. Ward has been critical in refining the accounting systems and processes and keeping the company’s finances in order.

Markay Ward
President

Since 1989, Markay has provided Ward with critical leadership in several strategic Ward business areas including software development, contracts, customer service and training. She has been instrumental in developing numerous internal initiatives which have directly contributed to Ward’s growth. After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, Markay worked with several companies in human resources, accounting and inside sales.

Robert Kettyle
Vice President, Sales And Operations

Bob has been with Ward since 2007 and developed our innovative go-to-market strategies and successfully moving Ward to a full service technical solution provider. Prior to Ward,  he held leadership positions in technology companies such as Siemens, Enron, and Daniel Flow Products. He has been a guest instructor at The Appalachian Gas Measurement School, presenting papers on Automated Metering Systems, Hydrocarbon Flow Computers, Measurement System Integration Philosophy. Bob attended Mohawk Valley Community College, CCAF, Middlesex County College, Rutgers, and Kean College in New Jersey.

Russ Whelan
Director of Sales

Russ has more than nine years of experience in the Fuel Management Industry with an East Coast manufacture as Regional Sales Manager, and most recently Sales Director. He was a business owner for over 18 years, and VP of Sales and Marketing for a large privately held lubricants company in Southern California. Russ understands the needs of this industry and has managed high performance sales teams and created winning strategies to meet and exceed company goals.  During his tenure in the oil industry, he has worked with major suppliers such as Ford Motor Company, Conoco Philips, CITGO, Castrol and many others. Russ has also overseen a sales team that was responsible for managing and servicing over 650 accounts throughout Southern California and whose customer base consisted of large vehicle fleets such as   new car dealerships, quick lubes, trucking fleets, bus fleets, rental car fleets, change stores (Sears, Camping World, Jiffy Lubes), and county and city fleets.

Kelley Handsor
Director Of Supply Chain

Kelley joined Ward in 2011 and is responsible for coordinating all inventory, logistics and supply chain activities. She ensures quality and timeliness with Ward product deliveries and supervises general administration activities within Ward. Kelley has been a supply chain professional with manufacturing facilities and operations since 2000.

Sales

Mike Wade
Western Regional Sales Manager

Mike was instrumental in leading Ward’s marketing, branding, and business development activities when he joined Ward in 2007 as Director of Marketing. He has extensive Fortune 500 sales, marketing, and business development experience in delivering triple-digit profit & revenue returns. His global acumen includes the appointment as the first European Marketing Manager for a global Fortune 200 conglomerate, and has been a featured blogger for the Automotive Fleet/Government Fleet since 2010, and has presented on GPS and Fuel Management technologies at local, state, and national conferences. Mike is involved in numerous community activities including the United Way, March of Dimes, San Antonio Sports, and the Valero Open. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Art in Business Economics and a Master of Business Administration.

Don Melochick
Northeastern Regional Sales Manager

Don has been with Ward since 2011 and his prior experience includes owning and operating a successful security company for 11 years, with 145 employees. He has also worked for an engineering company based in Germany, where he handled distributor sales in North America, South America and India. He has been a member of “Who’s Who in Small Business” and recipient of the Small Business of the Year in 2003 from the Schuylkill County Chamber of Commerce. Don attended UMBC in Baltimore Maryland and Anne Arundel Community College.

Everette Atkinson
SouthEast Regional Sales Manager

Everette has been in the Fuel Management industry working as a Technical Upgrade Sales Consultant since 2012. He pioneered his department with marketing and business development strategies for delivering high profit and revenue returns. He has extensive experience working closely with distributors, end-users and Regional Sales managers to enhance all aspects of the customers’ fuel management process. He has significant knowledge with fuel automation, mobile applications, software enhancements, credit card applications, and wireless network infrastructure. He is a proud supporter of the UnitedWay, and the Wounded Warrior Project. Born and raised in Tallahassee Florida, Everette has a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, with a focus in Professional Selling from Florida State University.

Wade Crabel
NorthCentral Region Sales Manager

Wade has more than 20 years of professional account management, distribution management, marketing, and sales management experience coupled with a multi-year history of successful goal achievement in the Fuel Management industry.  His skills include developing accounts and projects, successfully managing multiple distributorships, and defining and delivering customer needs.  Wade is a current member of National Joint Powers Alliance;100 Best Fleets; American Public Works Association; National Association of Fleet Managers; Technical Maintenance Council; Petroleum Equipment Institute; National Association of Business Aviation; National Weights and Measures Council; and Southeastern Governmental Fleet Managers. He has also addressed various industry associations on fuel management solutions. Some of these organizations include: The North Carolina Chapter- National Association of Fleet Managers; Southeastern Governmental Fleet Managers Association; North Carolina State University Drive Green; Interfuels-Department of Energy Federal Fleet Managers; 100 Best Fleets Conferences; and Virginia Clean Cities.

Rick Longobart
California/Nevada/Hawaii Region Sales Manager

Involved in the Fleet industry for 32 years, Rick led the City of Santa Ana fleet to 3rd Best Fleet overall, #1 Mid-Size Fleet in the country, and 9th on 100 Best and Greenest Fleet in the Nation in 2014. A member of MEMA for 29 years, he was President for 10 and has been chair of the NAFA Pacific Southwest Chapter. Rick is a highly accomplished management professional with proven leadership skills and a track record of award winning performance in the public service sector of Public Works handling fleet, facility, street maintenance, solid waste management and custodial services. Rick excels at the development and implementation of cost containment strategies and at dramatically improving operations through institution of creative solutions. For his many years of dedication and service to the State and the communities he serves Rick has been honored with many distinguished awards that include a special acknowledgment by the Governor of California for his contribution to the reduction of Household Waste, and a recognition of excellence from City of El Segundo’s Mayor, Police and Fire Chief. Throughout his experience as a Fleet and Facility Manager, he was responsible for implementing and maintaining AB 939, an environmentally sound operation to find new ways to comply with AB 939 laws that would help reduce waste generation. Over the years, his fleets and facilities have been awarded several million dollars through Energy Block Grants, State funds, regional air quality funds and other sources.

Service and Support

Leslie Patterson
Implementation Service And Support Manager

Leslie has been with Ward for more than 12 years serving in various customer service related capacities. In her current position as Manager of Ward’s technical support group (TSG) her responsibilities range from daily oversight of the San Antonio based call center to all of the local and nationally based technician centers. She also has the primary oversight of our “after warranty” service and support contract program. Prior to Ward, Leslie held similar customer facing positions in other industries and is a former member of the United States Marine Corps.

Justin Walker
ISS & Implementation Project Manager

Justin oversees installation processes which include project implementation, deploying systems, project scheduling, and project management. He is originally from San Antonio, Texas and graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelors in Construction Management.

Tony Scorcia
Western Regional Service Manager

Tony is a California native and has helped improve Ward Customer Service by bringing over 25 years of experience in the electronics service industry. He perfected his skills in service excellence through affiliation with companies such as Xerox Corp, Canon USA, Delta Airlines, and First Data Corporation. Tony holds industry certifications from CompTia; A+, Net+, iNet+, Apple and Cisco; received his Associates from ITT Technical Institute in Electronics, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Phoenix. Tony continues to expand his education – he currently is working to complete a Project Management certification from the University of California.

Peter Taczli
Northeastern Regional Service Manager

Peter has been with Ward since 2000 and he brings 20 years of Sales, Installation and Service management to the Ward Operations team. Peter works closely with Customer Support, Project Management, and the Implementation Support Service team. He has an extensive background in the Fleet & Fuel Management Industry and with an engineering back- ground in manufacturing. Peter attended the University of Bridgeport and has several certifications in engineering and sales.

Julius Siojo
Implementation Specialist

Since 1996, Julius has been a part of Ward’s software evolution, and has an extensive background in computer science and computer engineering. Julius graduated from the University of Texas in San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Monica Brown
Accounting and Human Resources

Monica Brown came to Ward in 1999 as an Accounting Manager. Her current realm of responsibility includes Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Human Resources and various related fields. Her 30 plus years of experience enables her to offer support to many departments within the company. Monica previously worked as a Controller for an international corporation before moving back to San Antonio, where she was born and raised.

Engineering

Richard Gower
Software Engineering Manager

Richard joined Ward in 2016 and oversees the IT department and the Software Development team responsible for Ward’s Fuel Management Software. He has been involved with application development since starting with British Rail in 1984, and has worked in the transportation industry with such companies as British Rail, Continental Airlines, EDS/HP, RailAmerica, Genesee and Wyoming, and Wabtec. Prior to joining Ward, Richard earned his PMP and worked at Catapult Systems as a Project Manager.
